Very different tones across these first two episodes. The first was very slow and thoughtful, so much so that I found it hard to stay focused on it. I think that had a lot to do with my own mental state, though. And the climactic action sequences were truly astonishing visually.
The second episode went down a lot easier; fewer rough edges. Much more tonally consistent with a mid-season anime episode of the time, I felt.
