Sentimental Hogwash | The Wire S1E10 | Dudes Daily
This episode felt pretty weak to me, going for a lot of cheap emotional beats. Kima meeting Bubs at the golden hour and promising to help him "tomorrow" just to get shot, the way that shooting is played for tragedy from the POV of all the men on the task force. Even McNulty talking his way out of any consequences for having his sons tail a dangerous criminal, because his wife reacted too emotionally in the type of action she brought in custody court. Big raspberry to all of it.
I did immediately spoil myself on Kima's fate, and learned that the original plan was to kill her off here until the lesbian network president convinced Simon and the writing team to have her survive instead. Good thing too, because I don't think I'd watch a second season without her.
