Originally, the blinding of the teen as a result of Pryzbylewski's pistol whipping seemed like a certain kind of dark mic-drop for the episode where it appeared, putting pressure on Daniels' decision to protect his team from the consequences of their violence. I wasn't thrilled by that move, which felt like a pretty cheap way to instrumentalize the consequences of police violence purely for cop character development.
This episode makes a move I'm even more suspicious of, however. The teen is brought back, arrested as a key part of the Barksdale drug operation. While it's not unbelievable, it seems notable to me that the show goes out of its way to establish the criminality of this kid in the long run. Prez himself getting a bunch of positive characterization in the meantime by cracking the pager codes doesn't help the bad taste.
